New licensing system Cisco Router

Earlier this year, Cisco announced changes to compensation 1841/2800/3800 router. The older routers have not yet reached the end of the sale, but the newer routers (1941/2900/3900) offer major changes in licensing router.

Why is it different? Similar to a PIX or ASA, the new license key router and a universal image to determine the functions available. This new licensing system shows a clear difference between the version of IOS installed and the feature setinstalled. You can change independently and not afect others.

The license structure has been simplified, as there are only 4 sets of functionality. None of the packets overlap. They are:

Basic IP: The standard feature set. It has support for most common routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), common WAN technologies (MLPPP, MLFR), and common LAN technologies (802.1q trunking).

Data: The license data adds support for MPLS,ATM, IS-IS and non-L3-IP protocols.

Voice: The UC (Unified communciations) feature set provides support for voice interfaces, CallManager Express and Unity Express modules.

Security: The security feature set adds features IPSec VPN, SSL VPN and firewall IOS.

Cisco allows you to search better in the application. You should always concerned with the amount of DRAMand installed flash memory, be sure to use the right features.

Although the performance characteristics of the new router to upgrade ports and processor speed. And alternatively, consider the low price of the older 1841/2800/3800 series. A little thought can save a little 'real dollars here.
